Biography

INRA is a public research body working in the field of agriculture, food and environment.
It practices life, physical and socio-economical sciences, employs 8500 people of which 3500 researchers and engineers. From the ISI data, INRA is ranked second in “agricultural sciences” and in “plant and animal sciences”, in the world (publications 1995-2005).

The priorities fort 2006-2009 of the institute have been adopted in October 2005 :

  • keeping pace with the most recent evolution of life sciences,
  • opening the institute to Europe, by a better structuration with other research bodies,
  • Involving the scientist in the debate with the stakeholders and the society, so that production of knowledge and innovations remain at the best level, and are understood by the society.

M. Guillou is a member of the boards of :

  • the International Research Center for Tropical agriculture (CIRAD),
  • the European Food Safety Authority,
  • The chairs the Board of Ecole Polytechnique (Paris)

Previously, she was CEO of INRA (2000-2004), As General Director for Food (1996-2000), she participated actively to the European works in the food regulation and to the Codex Alimentarius working sessions.

She is a member of the French Academy of Agriculture and the National Academy of Technology, she qualified as doctor in physico-chemistry, engineer of water and forestry, has got a diploma in Ecole Polytechnique (X73).

She is married, has 3 children and practices sailing and climbing.
