BioVision 2011 Programme is composed of three "tracks":

 

 "Decision Makers' perspective" / "Scientific Advances" / "Business in Science"

 

                                                              


Decision makers' perspectives track

Eminent leaders such as international CEOs, European commissioners, Directors of UN agencies and NGOs will share their insights on key global issues with BioVision participants. These discussions will be organised in 6 plenary sessions. A professional moderator will be in charge of conducting the debate. 
 

Themes:
 
1: Health, a right for all human beings, at any price?
2: Drugs and developing countries
3: Reconstructing life : Which biology for the future ?"
4: How will we be fed in 2020?
5: Would Pasteur and Fleming have survived the precautionary principle?
6: Preparing for healthcare 3.0: thinking outside the box

 

                                                               

 

 The “Scientific Advances”track aims to present and explain the most recent discoveries in Life Sciences, before all stakeholders debate their implications for society. 


Twelve themes will compose the scientific track including each:

• Three “talks” sessions: three leading researchers in their discipline will successively present an original or new aspect of the subject in short and dynamic twenty-minutes presentations, offering participants new perspectives in the field


• A round table of one hour and a half will bring together all stakeholders to debate with scientists the societal or ethical implications of these recent innovations. The discussion will enable participants to form a personal opinion on the subject

3 - From systems biology to personalized medicine
4 - Comprehending human brain function in the future
5 - Cancer research for personalized patient treatment
6 - How to deal with emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases?
7 - Cell therapy: scientific, therapeutic and ethical challenges

8 - Environment and CO2
9 - Biofuels from biomass
10 - Turn Green into Gold


 Nutrition


11 - Health, nutrition and bacteria

Business in Science track

This track will address the links between science and industry. These issues will particularly attract players from the life sciences industry. Three round tables will take place during the same day in order to facilitate business representatives’ participation. 

Discussions will be organised around the following global issue: The end of the traditional life sciences industry model, what's next?
 
 
The subject will be declined in 4 workshops:
 
 
1: How to address the growing challenge of chronic diseases in emerging countries?
2:
How can technology innovation transform healthcare delivery?
3: New geography of R & D innovation in infectious and neglected diseases
4: How to solve R & D's challenge with Open collaborative innovation?
